Living Lights, Shining Stars

#5 Become personally involved in helping our schools. Encourage literacy and excellence in education--educate for eternity.

“The mind of a person with understanding gets knowledge; the wise person listens to learn more.” Proverbs 18:15

The best illustration of this point is right out of the book by Dr. M. Norvel Young. “Samuel Taylor Coleridge was once talking with a man who had come to visit him at his home. During their conversation, the man told Coleridge that he didn’t believe in giving little children any moral or religious education. His theory was that children’s minds should not be swayed in any certain direction.  He thought children should be allowed to wander mentally free, and when they were old enough, they should then choose their moral and religious opinions for themselves.  Coleridge didn’t respond, but after a while he asked the man if he would like to see his garden. The man said he would, and Coleridge took him out into the garden, where weeds of all kinds were on the rampage.  The man looked at Coleridge in surprise. He said, “Why, this is not a garden! There’s nothing here but weeds!” “Well, you see,” said Coleridge. “I didn’t want to infringe of the liberty of the garden in any way.  I was just giving the garden a chance to express itself and then choose its own production.”

In fact, moral intelligence is a characteristic that is highly developed at a very early age.  Children look to adult behavior as their model for morality. They do what they see done.  Parents, caregivers, and teachers have some of the most important, powerful influences on the development of a child.

Prop Making Meeting

We will have a special PTL work day to prepare for the musical MONDAY-- APRIL 4TH, FROM 3:15 UNTIL ???.  If you can’t be here right at 3:15, stop in as you can and see what still needs to be accomplished.  Come join us as we get prepared to bring to life the story of Moses, Miriam, Aaron, Joshua, the Pharoah, the Egyptians, and God’s people, the people of Israel!

Japan Relief and Mercy Meals

Thank you to everyone who supported Sami Baltzell’s mission project for Japan’s relief and recovery in the wake of the disasters in that country!  Our quarterly ministry of Orphan Grain Train’s Mercy Meals has been blessed to receive over $100 already! God has truly given our children giving hearts!

 Make Reservations Now!

The Reservations forms for the Dinner Theater have gone out! Seating will be reserved based on first-come, first-seated, so please turn in your reservations as soon as possible. It is always easier to adjust down rather than up on the number of people you will need seated together or close together, so please plan accordingly.

You may videotape the performance from the balcony area if you’d like as well.
